Make your team more cohesive

We tell our speakers over and over again, that clients want to see and work with a cohesive team. On the chance that your team hasn’t worked together before or doesn’t seem to gel, help them get to know each other.
1. Introduce another team member.
When you do a meet and greet exercise, pair them up. Have them read one another’s resume, ask personal questions about family, hobbies and such and then introduce their buddy to the group (2 minute limit.) Have them stand side by side as they introduce one another.
2. Help a buddy rehearse.
When you have a large team or limited rehearsal time or both, send them out of the room with another speaker to rehearse together. It’s always so easy to fix someone else! Have them focus on hitting their time budgets, adding benefits, putting energy into their voice and using the voice memo feature on the cell phone for feedback.
3. Add more cameos.
Banter between speakers can turn a flat presentation into an interesting conversation. Let speaker #1 deliver the point and have speaker #2 add the benefit or example. Put them on either side of the screen or board and deliver alternating points. Confidence increases when they share the stage.
4. Sell your team to the panel.
Instead of asking the team, “Why should Agency M pick us?” ask them, “Why should Agency M pick Jimmy?” If they can’t offer 3 solid reasons, send them back to Jimmy’s resume for help. Do this for each team member and do this exercise more than once!
